Editorial Review for Sunnyside Lake Tahoe – by Citysearch Staff
The Scene
Located on Tahoe's west shore, this perpetually popular restaurant and bar draws an all-day, 20-something crowd looking to drink, eat and kick back on the spacious deck overlooking the lake and the surrounding mountains.
The Food
A hopping bar scene takes a lot of fuel, and the grill menu keeps the party going with lots of tasty snacks, from crispy fried zucchini to Tahoe fish tacos and a fat cheddar burger. The dining room boasts slightly more formal fare at dinnertime, mostly grilled steaks, chops and fish, served with a choice of green salad, Caesar salad or fish chowder. But everyone saves room for the famous hula pie, a mammoth slab of macadamia nut ice cream in a chocolate cookie crust, drenched in hot fudge sauce topped with whipped cream.

The best time to go is in the summer, and sit on the outside deck. It gets crowed though on the weekends and holidays, so be ready to wait a little bit. The zucchini sticks and fish tacos are great! Don't bother with sitting in the main dining room, it's stuffy and not that good--the bar menu is far better and less pricey.
Pros: Bar menu; outdoor seating
Cons: Parking; main dining room

Getting there is half the fun. There's nothing like starting outin the Keys and boating over to Sunnyside (it's actually faster than driving). Once you've docked your boat, the scenery and atmosphere are fantastic. The food's pretty good as well. Make sure you top it off with a piece of Hula Pie.
